Chase's grandfather got him started playing golf, and he's been hooked ever since. In 2008, Chase earned all-conference honors for the first time after a sixth-place finish at the conference meet.

"My Grandpa Forkenbrock was always willing to do anything he could to help me enjoy the game of golf and improve my game. Fortunately, I was able to play well enough to play in the Iowa State Tournament and have an opportunity to play competitively in college. The first time I met head coach Scott Fjelstul I could sense the passion and enthusiasm he has for Luther and the golf program. Winning the 2008 Iowa Conference championship and playing in the national tournament is a memory that I'll carry with me forever."
