Luther Drops Twin Bill to Concordia-Moorhead

Luther dropped a twin bill to Concordia-Moorhead this afternoon during the first day of action at the Russ Matt Invitational held in Phoenix, Arizona. The Cobbers defeated the Norse 15-3 and 4-3. The two losses dropped Luther's overall record to 2-2.
In game one, the Cobbers exploded for nine runs on eight hits in the bottom of the fifth, blowing a close game wide open. Concordia followed its nine-run fifth with a five-run sixth, knocking Luther's starting pitcher Adam Kohls out of the line-up.
Luther took a 2-1 lead in the top half of the fourth when Mark Webber and Zack Topping both singled in runs. Ben Schott was also credited with an rbi thanks to a lead-off home run in the sixth. Nate Neis and Joe Thompson were 2-for-2.
Concordia scored three runs on three hits in the top of the sixth of game two en route to the come-from-behind victory. Schott gave the Norse an early 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run home run in the first inning, his third of the season. Chris Reynolds produced his first collegiate home run, a solo shot in the sixth. The Cobbers pulled to within one of the Norse in the top of the fifth, scoring a run on two hits.
Nate Todd was credited with the loss allowing four runs on seven hits. Todd pitched six full innings but only allowed one earned run.
The Norse will return to action tomorrow when they will face Hamline University.
