Luther Sweeps Oberlin - Weber Drives in seven runs

Luther increased its overall record to 7-3 after sweeping Oberlin College (OH) 16-0 and 6-2 this afternoon in Mesa, Arizona. The Norse continued to swing hot bats producing 30 hits, increasing their team batting average to .405.
In game one, the Norse scored five runs in each of the first three innings, settling the outcome early. Mark Weber led the offensive attack driving in five runs, four that were produced with a pair of doubles to left-center field in the first and third innings. Webber also drove in a run in the second with a single through the right side. He finished the game 3-for-4 and scored twice.
Ben Schott, Joe Thompson and Steve Beckman all drove in two runs. Schott was 3-for-4 and scored three times. Thompson (2-2) and Zach Topping (2-2) also crossed the plate three times.
The pitching trio of Nate Todd, Augie Lindmark and Matt Reynolds allowed just five hits.
Adam Kohls pitched four scoreless innings in game two en route to his second win of the season. Kohls faced 16 batters, spread six hits and struck out three.
Weber and Jake Waddle drove in two runs each. Waddle provided a two-run double to center field during Luther's three-run fourth inning. Weber drove in two runs in the seventh with a single, completing his afternoon with seven rbi. He currently leads the team in this category with 18 and is batting .467.
The Norse will return to action tomorrow when they will face the University of Chicago. This will be the final double header of Luther's spring trip to Phoenix, Arizona and the Russ Matt Invitational. The Norse will fly home on Thursday, and then head to Cornell College (1-2, 4-9) for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday, March 27-28.
