Luther posts second win in a row - defeats buena vista 5-0

Luther jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead en route to its second win in a row, a 5-0 decision over Buena Vista University this afternoon in Storm Lake.

The Norse dominated every aspect of this match, out shooting the Beavers 26-9 and also tallied an 11-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Jackson Stalberger and Tyler Brewer scored their first collegiate goals and were the bookends to goals by Adam Pyzdrowski, Jimmy Laroque and Saul Rosales.

Stalberger scored what proved to be the game winner off a corner kick that was struck by Melchor Quezada at 12:41. A couple of minutes later, Pyzdrowski scored his fifth goal of the year at 14:28, assisted by Laroque. Laroque added to his point totals for the afternoon with a goal at 22:35 assisted by Michael Kustra. Rosales extended the Norse lead on a penalty kick at 43:11. This goal was followed by Brewer's unassisted goal at 79:49.

The win gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 3-2-0, 5-6-1 overall. Buena Vista fell to 0-5-0 in league play, 1-13-0 overall.

Luther's next match will be this Saturday when it will host UW-Platteville at 4:00 p.m. This match will be video streamed beginning at 3:55 p.m. weather permitting.
