luther explodes for 10 goals in victory over cornell

Eight different players scored as Luther exploded for 10 goals in a 10-0 Iowa Conference victory over Cornell College this afternoon in Mount Vernon. The Norse entered this match having scored just six goals in their first eight matches of the season.
Multiple goals were scored by Adam Pyzdrowski and Guilherme Castro. Driving in their first goals of the year included Alex Case, Jason Block, Andrew Eisenberg, Jake Kessler and Saul Rosales. Pyzdrowski was also credited with three assists for a total of seven points. Assists were also credited to Eric Johnson, Alan Bedell, Block and Mark Fernandes.
Case scored the game winner at 4:29 of the first half, a half that saw Luther score six times.
Luther goalkeeper Steve O'Meara picked up his four shutout of the year. The Norse defensive unit held the Rams to just three shots the entire afternoon. The Norse tallied 23 shots placing 18 on goal.
The victory snapped a two-match losing streak and leveled Luther's Iowa Conference record to 1-1, 3-5-1 overall. Cornell fell to 0-2 in the IIAC, 3-8 overall.
Luther returns to action at home this Wednesday night, Oct. 7, when it will host Loras College. This match will be video streamed, weather permitting, and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
