Luther defeats simpson 1-0 - Evens league record to 2-2

The Luther College men's soccer team leveled its Iowa Conference record to 2-2 following a 1-0 victory over Simpson College this afternoon here in Decorah. The victory was also the second for the Norse in the last three matches.
The loss dropped Simpson's league mark to 2-2-0, 5-4-2 overall.
Michael Olson scored what proved to be the game winner on a penalty kick at 5:41 into the match. Olson's goal was his first of the season.
Statistically, Luther out shot Simpson 10-6 and forced Storm goalkeeper Josh Youngman to make five saves. Simpson managed three shots on goal that Norse keeper Steve O'Meara turned away en route to his fifth shut out of the season.
Luther will return to Iowa Conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 14 when it will travel to Buena Vista University. This match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
