McKay - Blessing Earn All-Conference Honors - Luther Finishes 6th

Luther wrapped up the 2009 Iowa Conference Indoor Championships in sixth place with a total of 41 points. Wartburg College hosted the two-day event at the Hoover Fieldhouse and Track.
Wartburg won the team title with 146 points, and was followed by Central with 132 and Loras at 127
David McKay and Josh Blessing earned all-conference honors in the 5,000 meter run and pole vault respectively. To earn all-conference honors an individual or a relay team must finish in the top-three of an event.
McKay finished second in the 5,000 meter run posting a time of 15:09.11. The two-time cross country All-American was runner-up to Wartburg's Brian Chenoweth who set an Iowa Conference record with a time of 14:45.17. This is the first time that McKay has earned all-conference honors indoors. Earlier this week, McKay was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
Blessing posted a season best height of 14-11 in the pole vault that was good for second place. Chris Buresh of Loras College provisionally qualified for the NCAA III National Indoor Championships with a first place height of 15-7 3/4. Blessing's all-conference performance was the first of his indoor career.
