Luther plans response to nation’s economic downturn
Luther President Richard Torgerson has communicated with the college’s students, parents, faculty and staff in the past two weeks to provide them with information about Luther’s plans to respond to the economic downturn.
President Torgerson said the Luther Board of Regents and administration leaders are evaluating the economic situation, appraising its effects on Luther operations and will make prudent financial decisions that will help the college thrive during these times of financial challenges. Read more
Luther College supporter offers $250,000 challenge gift for annual fund
An anonymous donor has offered Luther College a $250,000 challenge gift to increase unrestricted giving to the college’s Annual Fund.
The challenge gift will match, dollar-for-dollar, all new gifts and increases in gifts to the Luther Annual Fund. Read more
Luther College to host World AIDS Day benefit concert
The Luther College Student Global AIDS Campaign, in conjunction with National AIDS Awareness Month and the World AIDS Day, will present a benefit concert on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 9 p.m. in Marty’s CyberCafé, located on the lower level of Dahl Centennial Union.
The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission. A free will donation will be accepted. Read more
Luther College to host Dec. 19 astronomy observation session
Luther College will host an astronomy observing session Friday, Dec. 19, 7-8 p.m. at Valders Hall of Science, led by Jeff Wilkerson, Luther professor of physics. The session is open to the public with no charge for admission. Observers may come any time during the 60-minute session. Read more

The Luther admissions office needs assistance finishing the last of their admissions brochures. A viewbook titled “Luther College: Famous for All the Right Reasons” will feature quotes and comments from several students, faculty, staff and alumni about their Luther experience both on and off campus.

Luther Center Stage Series to host four children’s program performances in 2008-09 season
Luther College is an undergraduate liberal arts institution of 2,500 students. Founded in 1861, the college is located in the river and bluff country of northeast Iowa.
