Luther defeats St. Olaf in season opener 64-54

The Luther College women's basketball team defeated St. Olaf College here in the Regents Center 64-54 in the season opener for both teams.

Leading 25-22 at the intermission, the Norse shot nearly 54 percent in the second half, outscoring the Oles 39-32 en route to the victory.

Camille Stenhaug led all scorers with 20 points. Marci Furlong also reached double digits with 13. Sam Jewell was one basket shy of double figures chipping in eight. Stenhaug also led all rebounders with seven and was followed by Jewell and Bethany Van Sloten with six each.

St. Olaf was paced by the freshman duo of Mackenzie Wolter and Erin Haglund who tallied 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Norse will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24, when they will host Carleton College at 7:00 p.m.
