Luther 2nd at all-american invitational

The Luther College cross country team battled UW-La Crosse for the team title of the 38th Annual All-American Invitational this afternoon here in Decorah. The Norse placed second behind the Eagles by a slim four points. Both teams had three runners in the top-10 but La Crosse tallied a point total of 41 to Luther's 45. UW-Eau Claire was a distant third with 98 points.

Posting top-10 finishes for the Norse were Katie Dolan, Kim Horner and Sharon Heyer. Dolan crossed the finish line in sixth place clocked at 19:24. Horner was seventh at 19:40, while Heyer was ninth at 19:46.

This threesome was followed by Annie McKay (10th - 19:46), and Lisa Wegman (13th - 19:53), Anna Wikan (14th - 19:54) and Julia Schiefelbein (21st - 20:05).

The Norse will be off until Sept. 26 when they will travel to St. Paul, Minn. for the 24th Annual Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. The women's race will begin at 9:00 a.m. on the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
