Luther finishes 9th at UW-Eau Claire Invite

The Luther College cross country team ran well at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational placing 9th from a field of 19 teams. The 6k course was run on the Whitetail Golf Course located in Colfax, Wis. The top-12 returning upper classmen for the Norse did not compete at this race as they received the week off following their performance at the 24th Annual Roy Griak Invitational held Sept. 26.
Eau Claire, ranked #11 in the country, took the team title with an impressive 29 points, placing all five of its scorers in the top-10. Minnesota-Duluth was a distant second with 60 points followed by Winona State University with 112. Luther tallied 248 points.
Chelsea Lynch led Luther’s top five with a 47th place finish and a time of 24:23. She was followed closely by Ellie Neubauer (48th, 24:28), Nicole Wilson (50th, 24:30), Leah Jensen (51st, 24:40), and Rachel Wiesenberg (52nd, 24:41). Michelle Boursier (55th, 24:52) and Kristin Westby (57th, 24:55) rounded out to the top seven.
The Norse will return to action on Oct. 10 when they will travel to St. Paul, Minn., for the St. Kate’s Invitational. The women’s race will take place at 11:00 a.m.
