Luther rolls to 5-0 victory over buena Vista

A four-goal second half blew this match wide open for the Luther College women's soccer team en route to a 5-0 victory over Buena Vista University this afternoon in Storm Lake.
Paige Ofstedahl scored what proved to be the game winner at 25:04 of the first half assisted by Dani Meirick. Ofstedahl's goal was her fourth of the year. Lisa Torgerson and Anna Grinde extended the lead with unassisted goals at 47:21 and 52:18 respectively. Torgerson's goal was her first of the year, while Grinde recorded her third. Meirick drove in her team best 11th goal of the season at 74:12 assisted by Grinde. Kirsten Stevens completed the scoring barrage with her first collegiate goal at 89:21.
The Norse dominated every aspect of this contest, out shooting the Beavers 28-3 and also tallied an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks. Buena Vista goal keeper Turissa Moreland faced 17 shots on goal stopping 12.
The win increased Luther's Iowa Conference record to 3-1-1. The victory also leveled Luther's overall mark to 6-6-1 overall. Buena Vista fell to 0-5-0 in league play, 2-11-0 overall.
The Norse will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they will host UW-Platteville at 2:00 p.m. This match will be video streamed beginning at 1:55 p.m.
