Luther sweeps Buena Vista - Coach hartl records 200th victory

Luther improved its Iowa Conference record to 10-4 after sweeping Buena Vista University 9-0 and 10-1 this afternoon in Storm Lake. The two wins also gave Head Coach Renae Hartl her 200th career victory. Her career record is now 200-108.
BreAnn VanDeer (14-3) threw a three-hit shut out en route to the victory in game one. Lauran Snyder, who was named last week's Iowa Conference Player of the Week, continued to swing a hot bat driving in five runs. Snyder hit a lead-off home run in the sixth and a three-run home run in the seventh, increasing her season total to five. She also drove in a run in the first with a double to center field. Kim Hess and Tiffany Kruse were both credited with two rbi.
Luther tallied 14 hits in game two and ended this game with a seven run sixth inning. Kelsey Hake did most of the damage with a 3-for-4 performance driving in five runs. Hake hit a two-run double in the fifth and a three-run home run in the sixth. Hess and Danielle Armbruster also tallied three hits.
Ashlie Patten and Kim Lambert pitched three innings each. Patten faced 10 batters in the first three frames and struck out four. Lambert (8-2), who was credited with the win, struck out six of the 13 batters she faced and walked one.
The Norse will return to action tomorrow when they will host UW-La Crosse. This non-conference twin bill will begin at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be video streamed at http://sports.luther.edu/video.
