Luther Defeats #1 Central for second time in two days - needs two wins over coe

For the second time in two days and the third time this year, Luther has defeated Central College. This afternoon, the Norse posted an 8-5 decision over the Dutch, eliminating the regular season champions out of the Iowa Conference Tournament. Luther stays alive and will need to defeat Coe twice to capture the tournament championship. Coe defeated the Norse 3-1 in a semifinal game yesterday.
Luther took advantage of five Central errors that resulted in all eight runs being unearned. The Norse scored four times in the third and four in the sixth. Central tied the game 4-4 after five complete.
The hit of the game came off the bat of Lauran Snyder, who hit a grand slam home run with two outs in the sixth. Snyder's home run was her sixth of the year.
Kim Hess and Abby Christian produced multiple hits. Hess was 2-for-5 and scored a run, while Christian was was 2-for-4 and drove in two runs with a double down the left field line in the third.
Kim Lambert (10-3) picked up the win in relief of Kelsey Hake. Hake pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowed three runs on five hits, walked two and struck out four. Lambert allowed two runs on one hit, walked six and struck out one.
