Norse STay alive in national tournament - eliminate Tommies 2-1

Luther stayed alive in the NCAA National Tournament defeating #2 St. Thomas 2-1 this afternoon in Indianola. The Norse move on in the elimination bracket and will face Washington University-St. Louis latter this evening. Washington University eliminated Wartburg 5-1 earlier today. These two teams met in the first round of the tournament with Luther posting a 1-0 victory in 10 innings.
Abby Christian, who was 2-for-3, provided the game winning hit, a two-run home run over the left field fence in the top of the fourth. Christian's home run was her sixth of the year.
Kim Lambert (11-3) picked up her second win of the tournament after taking over for BreAnn VanDeer who pitched the first two frames. Lambert allowed just one hit and struck out seven, including two batters in the third inning with the bases loaded.
The Norse are now 35-10. The victory also ties the school record for wins in a single season.
