Simonson - armbruster propell Luther to 9-1 victory over north central

Nationally ranked #6 Luther rebounded from its first loss of the season this morning with an impressive 9-1 victory over North Central College (IL). The Norse pounded out 15 hits in this ball game producing multiple runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings.

Danielle Armbruster and Anna Simonson provided most of the offensive punch driving in three runs each. Armbruster had a two-run double in the third and a one-run double in the fifth. Simonson drove in a run in the third and two in the top half of the seventh. Armbruster was 3-for-4 and scored twice, while Simonson was 2-for-5. Kim Hess, Kelsey Hake, Abby Christian and Jackie Miller all tallied two hits.

BreAnn VanDeer had another solid outing. VanDeer went the distance in the circle, allowing just five hits, stiking out seven and did not give up a walk.

The win gives Luther an overall record of 6-1and a mark of 2-1 with seven games remaining at the Tucson Invitational Games. The Norse will return to action tomorrow when they will face the College of St. Catherine and Pacific University.
