Nine-run fifth secures ninth win of the season - Miller drives in four runs

Luther made quick work of Taylor University in the only game on the schedule today for the Norse at the Tucson Invitational Games. The Norse scored nine runs in the top half of the sixth en route to a 12-0 victory in five innings.
Jackie Miller, who was 2-for-2, got things started with a three-run inside the park home run in the second. Miller also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to left field in the fifth.
Luther blew this game wide open scoring nine runs on nine hits in the fifth. At one point in this inning, the Norse produced six consecutive hits and sent 14 batters to the plate.
Anna Simonson and Kim Hess were both 3-for-4, while Kelsey Hake and Abby Christian joined Miller producing two hits. Hess also recorded her sixth stolen base of the season and is now one shy of tying the school record for this category. She has a career total of 47.
BreAnn VanDeer picked up her fifth win of the season against not losses. VanDeer allowed just two hits, walked one and struck out four.
The Norse will play two games tomorrow and two on Friday to wrap up their annual spring trip to Tucson. Scheduled tomorrow are games with Calvin and St. Catherine's. Friday the Norse will play a double header against St. Olaf College.
