Norse Fall to Knights - game Two called because of rain

Luther and Wartburg attempted to get two games played on a rainy afternoon here in Decorah. Unfortunately, game two was called due to lightning and rain in the bottom half of the first inning.
Wartburg scored a run in the first and another in the third, defeating Luther 2-1 in a game that got started 1 1/2 hours later than scheduled. The Knights Lexy Determan (17-1) spread four hits over seven innings en route to the victory. Tina Vande Hoef drove in both of the Knights runs.
Anna Simonson had two of Luther's four hits and also scored Luther's lone run in the bottom of the third. Kelsey Hake drove in Simonson with a single to left field.
BreAnn VanDeer went the distance in the circle. VanDeer allowed five hits, walked two and struck out five.
The loss gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 10-5, 30-7 overall. Wartburg moved to 12-3, 35-4 overall.
The Norse will be the #4 seed for the conference tournament that will be held in Pella, Iowa April 30-May 2. Complete seeds and tournament schedule will be located on the Iowa Conference web site.
Luther will wrap up the regular season schedule at home on Tuesday, April 28, with a double header against UW-Stout at 3:00 p.m. These games are scheduled to be video streamed.
