Norse Reach Semifinals of IIAC Tournament - Fall to #1 Loras 3-1

Making its first appearance in the Iowa Conference Tournament since it went to a six-team format three years ago, Luther advanced to the semifinal round before #1 seed Loras ended its season by a score of 3-1.
The Norse kicked-off the tournament defeating Wartburg 3-1 in the opening round. Set scores were 25-23, 27-25, 27-29 and 25-20. Taylor Skoglund paced the Norse attack with 16 kills. She was followed by Emily Cory with 14, while Tiffany Kruse and Ally Czechowicz who were both credited with 10. Molly Morrissey (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) dished out 45 assists. Anna Simonson (Galesville, Wis./Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau) led the squad with 25 digs.
In the semifinal match, regular season conference champions Loras, advanced to the title match with set scores of 25-13, 21-25, 25-16 and 25-22.
Cory, Czechowicz and Skoglund were credited with 12, 11 and 10 kills respectively. Morrissey dished out 32 assists and Kruse led the team with 13 digs.
The win and loss gives the Norse a final record of 19-15. Luther's 19 wins is its best effort under second year head coach Jane Gibbs and highest win total since 2000.
